  1. I've been an Avira customer since about 1996. They were free back then, as AntiVir, which is still available. I stayed on the freebie for about 5-6 years until it struck me that I should be paying something back. Our house computers are now all covered by Avira Premium, and the discount for paying 2 or 3 years up front is very generous. I haven't really experienced many of the others at first hand. I've rescued a few of my friends from the likes of Norton, McAfee and AVG over the years - last time was an AVG snafu - just last week.
  2. Two nice items for sale here: An AMD FX 6100 "Zambezi" 6-core processor A PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 EPS12V Crossfire Sold B
  3. Good link Dave, but I had to laugh at the thought of getting out of it again, for bathroom breaks and so on.
  4. Tower to Brando; Tower to Brando: Your wheels are up - do not land - repeat, do not land! Oh, too late - that's an omelette....
  5. Plywood, steel ..... and about a regiment of soldiers
  6. ........ as long as I'm not expected to shell out to see it!
  7. Besides which - the USB joke is mine, and my neurosurgeon is still dining out on it What I wish I had received was several grub-sockets to allow the easy fitting of a head-cam or a TrackIR clip But it all pales into insignificance beside that amazing piece of reconstructive surgery, Faustnik! I send you a heartfelt salute comrade! Do everything you can to make a full recovery.
  8. I'm in total agreement with that - a very tidy piece of work!

    Imp Air

A pic I grabbed from the BBC and enlarged for Dogz educational purposes - like: We once had an Empire, complete with its own airline, gosh!
  10. And what piece of good fortune that this didn't happen, say, 50 years ago - just after the "Cuban missile crisis"! Who knows how the Russians might have reacted?
  11. As Nick sez, not much need for X-fire in FB - but Rise of Flight looks a lot better and so will other upcoming titles.
  12. They are very handy - printed out - for planning missions in the pre-build phase. Laminated in plastic and used with a grease pencil they can be used for navigation in full-switch missions, probably better than the nav-map Jabo is referring to. But I like to use them in conjunction with the FMB, building co-ops.
  13. Damn! I just paid £110 so that I could complete a Crossfire pair of 6950s - It is a good price for a high-rated card. I recommend this deal.

  16. Ah, you're all full of --it. Everybody knows they didn't have cars back in the Dark ages, so what's he doing under a car park?
  17. Bizarre? 20 kids get massacred in a school - but never mind - cos now you can get a bullet-proof backpack to keep the little tykes safe. Er, well not the 20 that just got killed of course, and it only works with backshooters; oh, and you have to be wearing it at the time, and . . . . . well, who cares, if we can make a few bucks out of peoples' fear?
  18. . . . and I get a Chrome mal-ware warning page? ? ?
  19. Every time I reboot my PC the cup-holder disappears!

  21. Don't worry Mick - no need to get a complex Ross
  22. "Brando calling Ovy: Is that Over over Dover, over?" Welcome aboard John.
  23. Well - there will always be thieves - and not giving a rat's arse about the victim will always be the mark of the true criminal - but what really gets me upset is a whole class of coke-snorting, whore-banging, rich bastards who gamble with everybody's money; then walk away scot free when the world markets crash and everybody's savings hit the can. Those people make the scumbag perps look like amateurs.
  24. Going right back to the days of the Raj: There was a young girl from Darjeeling Who could dance with such exquisite feeling Not a murmur was heard, Not a sound, not a word, But the fly-buttons hitting the ceiling. We had class back then This one is subtle: Despite her impressive physique Fatima was really quite meek; If a mouse showed its head She would jump into bed With a terrible blood-curdling sheik. I heard this one over 50 years ago: There was a young girl of Penzance Who decided to take just one chance. So she let herself go In the arms of her beau; Now all of her sisters are aunts. Definitely a classic
