The last time I saw a Lanc was from the car park in front of this house - my 12 'o clock straight down in the photo. I was loading  the car when I heard Merlins nearby and getting louder, and it was a strange feeling - less airshow, more imminent raid.  I looked up and saw the BBMF Lancaster just a couple of hundred feet overhead, with a Hurricane nailed to its tail keeping perfect formation. As I gazed gob-smacked. the wings dipped and they pulled a tight 180 to reverse course back towards Dawlish. I even got a wave from a crew member. It was a kind of moment of wonder which thrills me even to think of it.

Yeah, I've had to let it go for medical reasons, anno domini and so on.

It's gone to a friend up on Dartmoor who has ridden outfits for a long time.

Beemers are good imo. Well engineered and long-lasting too. A rider's machine.

A little too close for comfort, that one! Maybe it's because my stick hand trembles when a close Archie round explodes - the plane certainly shakes about.
