  1. 2.8 Open Beta Update has been pushed to tomorrow now folks.

Hi chaps, The update to 2.8 is slated to hit this afternoon/evening; in light of our scheduled DCS session and the likelihood that this will be a sizeable update I am going to initially recommend that you DO NOT update to this version if you are wishing to do MP this eve; firstly, as we cannot guarantee the server version can be updated in time but also I am aware that even some of us with good internet connections can experience long update times when the ED master server is experiencing a lot of traffic. Given the importance of this latest update we can only assume that this will be a popular download and ergo bandwidth will suffer, thus much extending download times. Moving clouds and more realistic Ai jet dogfighting will just have to wait!

A church I don't recognise but I feel has continental flavour; answers on a postcard...: This looks to be the Gare du Nord in Paris: The Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Place looking East across St James' Park towards Westminster: No specific location but I suspect a French village: An unidentified colliery - there were a few in SE England but I suspect this is French: Gare de l'Est, again in Paris: An unidentifiable (but definitely London area) railway station - shades of Forest Hill station in the 1930's: A Liberty ship - a new (and much needed) asset perhaps...?: Finally! If you wanted Steam trains in the UK you were obliged to utilsie the German locomtive and rolling stock making it seem like the Deutsche Reichsbahn had acheived what the Luftwaffe and Heer had not! Now it appears we get an Allied locomtive; that's an Austerity class 2-8-0, often seen in the UK during and after the war and also many accompanied the Allies into France to provide rail motive power on the continent after the invasion: Finally a couple of Teaser videos. I suspect this shows our Spitfire flying Northeast over RAF Kenley airfield - the airfield layout checks out with the London-Brighton railway line appearing in a valley off the east side of the airfield... @Friar could maybe confirm as it's his manor...? Not sure where this is... stay tuned....

The modeling of the main rotor, fuselage, tail rotor, stabilizer and fin depending on the flight speed has been corrected. This affected the trim position of the controls in the main flight modes. It was appearing in the hovering lateral bank movement to the left, when a certain speed reached there was a sudden yaw push to the right. Now SAS heading hold mode is able to compensate for this. AB detent position can now be adjusted in Special Options without the need to modify a checkbox (the checkbox was removed). Users that had previously adjusted it, will need to readjust it. Now radar cover initial state is set via Special Options, unless the mission creator decides to forbid it in the ME. Fixed TRAP-137B Channel 20 operation in realistic communications mode. A/A heat seeking missiles are now correctly restored after launch, when the unlimited weapon flag is set in options. Fixed C-101CC sight depression initialization.   10. Final BDA: Please note, no criticism or judgement meant here; this is just for your own information and evaluation going forward. After review of the combat film from all surviving aircraft and crew reports: 1. Fenrir - 3 of his 4 bombs landed short but the last landed within 2ft of the wall and was just close enough to drop it... skin of the teeth job though.... 2. Kronenberg - released a little high and possibly with a slight loft as he managed to spread the bombs and hit the two outbuildings on the north side of the compound. 3. BluBear - all 4 bombs just short, bad luck! 4. Zukker - too early release and in a dive, bombs well short. 5. Sheriff - forgot to open his bomb bay but manages to crack the wall with his wing bombs only (a). Then cheekily swings back round to re-attack from the SE, narrowly avoids getting a face-full of 2nd Wave's bombs detonating as he runs in but nonetheless delivers his remaining bombs with remarkable accuracy and breaches the wall again (b). Ten-out-of-ten for dedication and derring-do Ross, but there's a fine line between bravery and, well.... 😉 6. Bremspropellor - release too high and too late; bombs went long and landed in residential area West of prison. One of your bombs detonated instantaneously, causing the engine loss. 7. Wingflyr - a text book drop, absolutely spot on centre of target; couldn't have done it better if he had a CCIP pipper! Well done. 8. Dixon - fractionally late release, luckily the 1st and 2nd bomb on target, the others landing slightly beyond. 9. 464 Sqn Yellow 2 - release was too early and line-up was to the right. 10. 464 Sqn Yellow 3 - lineup was good but release too late; bombs detonated outside the prison wall to the south. You guys were travelling at 320-350ft per second; ergo, 1/10th of a second means the difference of ~35ft (10m). Add in the massive differences any variation that the height of release can bring, with pitch attitude at release compounding the problem, plus trying to keep some semblance of formation, well, you all did an amazing job.
  11. Thanks Dennis, bad luck, but good bombing! The only DDs to make it home were BluBear, myself and Bob... But the target was decisively and accurately hit - good job everyone! @FoolTrottel and @Crash we missed you! What happened?

  15. The pilot needs to assign two Push To Talk (PTT) buttons - one to talk to entities outside their aircraft with the radio, one to activate the mic when talking to the nav over the intercom. The nav cannot communicate outside the aeroplane; they will only require to assign a PTT button to activate the intercom.
