  1. I've noticed that recently as well TOAD. When the 'Show all unread topics since last visit' shows nothing new, a click on 'click here to show all unread topics' shows a load of new posts. I've gotten into the habit of clicking both, so I can make sure that I've ignored something important
  2. Possibly Trib m8, but don't forget that 'shortly' is an Olegian measure of time (i.e. 'the Jurassic era occurred shortly after the Cambrian era' vs. 'I came back home shortly after going out as I remembered I'd left the gas on'). 'Soon' is another one... Jabo
  3. Interesting. The new maps are nice. This is not wholly a Maddox product though? Jabo
  4. I like the idea of #3 DT, although as you say, this may be impractical, esp later in the campaign as damage (hopefully) becomes more widespread. I think #2 may be the only practical solution, as reducing the AAA and speed of 'damaged' ships will make it easier to get in closer and therefore improve accuracy despite the number of hits required to sink being the same. I don't suppose there's any way of increasing the ship's vulnerability to damage? (I was going to say 'hp' there, but a bit too D&D I thought!
  5. Niiiiiice m8, what do you get on the Black Death track? Jabo
  6. and £200? Nice one Tagan. Gonna replace your fried gfx card m8?
  7. Indeed. Rest in Peace Harry. And thank you.
  8. Sorry to hear about that m8, but with at least one 4890 you should be able to run much the same settings as before? (for IL2 anyway) Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Jabo
  9. Bah. And possibly humbug.
  10. Thanks Sweper, it's always a pleasure to assist where possible. You mentioned that ChkMods picked up 43 issues, but bear in mind that it treats each incorrect file as an issue, so even with a couple of non-standard mods, it's quite easy to get to that number of issues. It's possible that you had a fault with the original AAA installation, ISTR that there were some issues at the time with corrupted d/ls which were briefly a problem. Having taken Pooka's advice and cleared the net cache and skin download cache, I think you're good to go. I'll be online early this evening if you're still having problems. Jabo

  12. Yeah, LOL. New terrain mesh req'd methinks. Perhaps this'll prompt Oleg to get a wiggle on with BoB. Google have mapped the entire earth and created a flightsim in less time

  14. Firstly, I would re-run the verification without 'Keep unknown mods, make them inactive' checked. This will ensure that no additional mods are floating around other than the standard AAA set. Once that's done, use the Fix option to download the appropriate files to fill gaps/correct corrupted files. Once fixed, run the verify again to ensure no other problems are there. Assuming that there aren't, try launching the game. If the second verify does find anything wrong, run the Fix again. Once you get a clean Verify, you should be good to go. If you need a hand, I can make myself available on TS this afternoon. Send me a PM if I can do anything here to help you. Jabo P.S. Alternatively, uninstall the game completely (remove folders etc) and reinstall. Obviously you will have to reinstall the mods as well as remapping your keys, but if ChkMods doesn't solve the problem (and it should) this is the only option left open.

  18. Unless it's the 64bit version. I'm still unclear about why having 4 or more GB of RAM is seen as being detrimental to the performance of 32bit PCs. Having benchmarked mine with 3GB and with 4GB, there's very little difference in the 32bit world. Anyway, back to the point...Sorry for hijacking the thread Sven. Jabo

  20. That's gold? Hell, this monitor DOES need a clean... Jabo P.S. Just how bad was your haircut back then Mick? I notice you've strategically removed yourself from the image? I suspect a Bon Jovi'esque poodle job.

  22. Jim, short answer; yes. Delta7, maybe it occured when I added ram. But it seems that windows using not all, but most of the ram. I dont know if I want to disable 2gb ram just for IL-2, but if it helps... Is there a program for this? Or do I have to unplug manually? [attachment=1] I think you'll have to unplug it manually Sven. That at least makes sure that the PC is not even trying to use the memory. Delta's point about compatibility is good - does all the memory run at the same clock speeds, or are you mixing and matching? I'm not sure why it would cause this error, but bad memory, just like bad gfx cards/drivers causes all sorts of bizarre issues. Jabo
