I love this. I only wish we were getting bits like this from Oleg.

Nice work Shadow. Very nice.

There's even grain on the wood on parts you can't see. I thought I was anal retentive!

I am very much with you DT. I also loved COD1 and also found COD2 (except for the graphics), well.....lackluster, so much so that I got bored and quit. I bought Red Orchestra the other day, and brought it back the next......unopened. I'm gonna finish FEAR extraction point and maybe reinstall some of the other stuff I have (like Tomb Raider, MMMMMM........Lara). I would really like to see a new game like Far Cry though, the size and attention to detail was fantastic, who knows maybe Red Orchestra is the one, but I'm going to wait a bit. Besides I'm having fun with my Squaddies and on ZvW.

I definitely tend toward TnB, but I'm learning BnZ. Again it depends on both the plane and the situation, but I am more comfortable in a plane that turns.

I have my x52 profile for IL2 working pretty well, so I uploaded it to the web sight It's in Downloads under Chet's x52 profile. I hope it helps. Enjoy P.S. don't forget to read the text, you need to assign several keys in game to make this work.

Hey guy's I'm sorry about the lack of follow-ups, I've been real busy. I hope to post my modified plans today or tomorrow, along with a layout to get the entire seat section on a single sheet of ply. ( I did it on the fly [pun intended], so I have to draw it up still ) I also have ordered some foam for the cusions and will report on that when it arrives.

That's an odd one M8. I think I was misunderstanding your problem, I'll have to look into that one. Just to cover all the bases you know that to import a profile you just drop the DAT. file into the Program Files/Saitek/Software/ folder right? The other thing I want to make sure of is that your using the shiftstate bar thats just above the pictures of the sticks, it's a dropdown list that allows you to select the mode your programming for. Notice that your Mode one commands carry over (they will have a little arrow, kind of like the windows shortcut arrrow) so you can very easily just change a handfull of commands from one mode to another. Just wanted to get that out of the way before snooping around in the drivers. Edit: I've been reading back in the thread and it looks like you already know all this stuff. You will probably have to manually delete all of the software folders and then go into the registry and manually delete all of the saitek entries if that is what's causing your problem. also Nuke USB is a handy little progggy that cleans out your USB, I've found it very helpful with these kind of driver problems.

I worked on my profile some last night but I'm getting a bunch of lag in the button press, so I'm going to try some tricks maybe tonight or tomorrow. I have been meaning to do this anyway so your not putting me out at all, your post actually gave me just the push I needed.

Hey Guitarman, don't you have Saitek pedals? If so, thats your problem, the drivers for the pedals aren't compatible with the drivers for the sticks. The new drivers for the sticks are available on the saitek website. You should be able to just uninstall both drivers then install the latest version of both and it should work, if you have trouble holler and I'll give you a hand. I have a utility that will wipe out the USB files if it becomes necessary. Saitek makes great hardware but they can't write a driver for love nor money.

I still haven't set mine up, if I do before Hell freezes over and we all die from the next plague I will be more than happy to end it too ya.

I certainly have no problem if anyone wants to use any ideas I have, just don't lavish too much praise on me, my head will swell up and I won't be able to get out of my new cockpit . I will post the mods I made, and some more photos. I would like to remind everyone that the Akers-Barnes cockpit is copyrighted and you should e-mail the owners for permission to use the plans (which was quickly and pleasantly granted). The portion of the cockpit I made takes all of five minutes to set up and take down and stores in a fairly small area, keep in mind that this thing was specifically designed to be stuck in the trunk of a car and set up (and taken down ) easily for bringing to a lan party. The hardest part of the job for me was laying the thing out (especially with my mods) so that I could do the whole thing on one sheet of ply, the plans have several layout ideas, but none with just the back half. The actual cutting just needs to be done slowly and carefully to get a nice result.

Thanks, I think it a bit rough, but I'll take your word for it. I shortened mine a bit so it's 39" long by 32 1/2" wide, and It's quite comfy even with the much to soft temporary cushion. As for weight you can take it down and carry it tucked under one arm ( granted, it's awkward and I have long arms), it's essentially 90% or so of a 4'x8' sheet of 1/2 " plywood, so you can easily judge the weight yourself (I'm assuming here that you've slung plenty of those [or their metric eqivalent] ). I should point out that the sheet of ply in the pictures is all of the wood I used for the project. (you need to look close to see my markings) If you look at the third picture down You'll see where I botched the slot on the cross brace and had to widen it and make a shim, it was fortunate that my mistake was exactly a 1/2 inch, so I could just take a piece of scrap and fix it.

Here are the photos of my Cockpit build I promised to several people. I only built the rear half as I don't really have room for the whole thing and I also made it 4" taller and 4 3/4 " shorter to match my desk and for fit, and as a bonus it's pretty easy to get out of. The cushion is temporary and it's not finished and painted yet.

Carl, what is most important is a difficult question, but perhaps a bit of explanation will help. Think of the graphics card as a small computer that the main computer uses to do a specific task, as such it has most of the same parts as the main computer, specifically Mother board, Processor, and Memory. The first thing is processor speed, thats where the work is done, after that comes memory, then the specific architecture of the card. For the most part, the bigger the number, the faster the card, the letter designations are mostly bells 'n whistles stuff (on graphics cards, bells and whistles are good), the xt and gt cards usually have a nice balance of features. (I hear the 1900 series pro's are good too). Memory can be a sticky subject, the simple answer is that more is better, but if you run a smaller monitor at lower resolution (say 19" @ 1024x768 or lower) 256 is probably fine as the memory stores the graphics info for the processor and lower resolutions require less info (still with me?). If you don't need the extra memory, you can spend the extra money on more processor speed or more bells 'n whistles. I sure hope I didn't just confuse the situation more. Good luck and happy card hunting.

Have a safe trip Bro., we'll see ya on the flipside.

I know you guy's are the experts Rog but I would like to suggest that your problem might be the power supply, I had trouble with mine like that for quite awhile: when I re-booted it would be fine but if I shut - down for the night it would take forever to start up- even though the power light on the mother board was on. what I realized was that if I didn't shut off the power strip, or phisically switch off the power supply it would fire up right away. I tested the power supply (with a light strip type tester) and it tested fine.....but it wasn't, when I finally replaced the power supply my problem went away.

Yeah, if it ain't broke: don't fix it. To bad me and Tim haven't learned that yet, life would be so much less painful .

Actually you are very right about the dental work, the fillings that you can see are over 30 years old, and only one has been redone and that only last year. The newer stuff is porcelain. While I'm confessing the crooked nose comes from a little altercation with a windshield. Lol Kling, how did you find that portrait of me? I'd forgotten I sat for that.

Yeah, I'm with BG.... Are you running your LCD at higher than native refresh rate? I've found that with both of my samsungs they have to be run at 60, anything else gives me a headache in minutes, otherwise they are very easy on the eyes. I really recommend that you try your native refresh rate (I think most LCD's are 60) and turn Vsynch on (that will prevent tearing).

After checking out recent threads, I decided to list this...

You have a lot of trouble breaking things don't you, Rog? Me too. -
I'm not sure if I follow everything on your post, but I did want to point out that I have an xfx 7800gtx that is factory over-clocked but it shows up in the over-clocking (cool bits, Riva-tuner) programs at stock speed, yet when you run a benchmarking program the over-clocked speed shows up. Could that be the case with yours? I'm not sure why this is, but I suspect that the 'clocking is somehow done in hardware, so that the bios doesn't know about it. Btw that sounds like a hot card.
