So long as I get to enjoy the finest flight sim the world has ever seen with me mates, who cares what a bunch of random idiots on the interweb think anyways?

I'm thinking roughly the same, that there will be a lot of infatuation at first, (though I am expecting a much bigger difference between IL2 and CloD than I feel some of you are [iNFIDELS!]) but that we'll miss the planeset/ map/ mission variety of good ole IL2 and wander back regularly. (I also have high hopes for the next UP)

And what's wrong with being a bullet magnet? You know there are much more lowly positions......I just can't think of any. Good to have another bullet magnet on board, perhaps you'll take some of the pressure off me.

I always do my IL2 settings right in the control panel with a profile. That way it just works automatically when you fire up the game.

That's no way to treat a $million+ aircraft.

I've done some further reading on the subject and found that the PCI-E bus is as porked as your favorite IL2 plane with the Intel chipsets for Sandybridge. Unless the motherboard manufacturer ads something like a Nvidea 200 chipset, you only have one PCI-E 16 bit lane. If there is any possibility of going for any flavor of multi-GPU solution, The 1366 socket might be the way to go....... Computers are just too fookin' complicated.

I just read a review on the sandybridge, and it eats the older i7's for lunch. I don't expect that it will take intel very long to fix the chipset problem, it might behoove you to sit on your decision for a couple of weeks. The $320 2600k stomps all over the c$850 975, and it overclocks like a champ too, the only 1366 socket cpu that can beat the top sandybridge is the six core 980 which is north of $1000. BTW it's the 1155 socket that's new and goes with the sandybridge, the 1156 is the old i3 and i5 socket and is for all intents and purposes dead. The 1366 is supposed to be still viable, but I wouldn't put money on it.

The Vids were "illegally" posted by a beta tester. It seems that the guy was a friend of one of the programmers that Ilya vouched for. Ilya got well chewed out and the programmer is at risk for his job.

Were gonna find out soon! I'm stoked that it seems my machine will run it sufficiently. I think I will drop $150 on a quad core though, until I can build a nice Sandybridge rig.
