  1. New Version Of Tank Map Released 18/07/2021 18:00 UK time Spurned on by a wet dull Friday and no calls from my customers I decided to re-visit the Summer Dog fight map and can now announce some more changes. 1. The name has been changed to DangerDogz TankCrew Map 2. I have removed all of the icons, so even if you forget to load mods or the tank crew icon set, you will still not get any icons (no giving away where the Tigers are!) 3. On the subject of Tigers; When they are spawned in, you will now receive a single message telling you the number of pairs that have been created, so even if you play the map a lot, you will now not know which pair(s) have been spawned in. The trigger lorry will now re-spawn after 2 minutes so if you manage to kill all the tigers (yea, right) and want to go again, you can, or if you are a sucker for punishment and perhaps only get 1 pair, you can kill the truck and try again. When killing the truck all currently spawned Tigers are removed from the map to start afresh. 3. Town Skirmish Another control point (flag) has been added. They are indicated by a yellow circle around the point on the map if they are free, red for Allied or Blue for Axis. They will also have the Allied or German icon in the centre. When the flags are captured you will now get a small squad made up of 1 or 2 AT guns plus some machine gunners to protect it. If you loose the flag your infantry will be captured (removed) and the enemy troops will take over. 4. Target Range AAA targets. The height of the circling planes has been lowered so you should now have a better chance of hitting them with AAA truck.
  2. is that too short a time? I never actually tested it. I just put the logic in and uploaded it. Its what Microshaft does is it not?
  3. Thought it was about time I updated the Dogfight map. Changes in place from 17/6/2021 1. Moved the Tigers to new locations. 2. Increased the chance of a pair being spawned to 80%. The notifications now all display on the top line. Pair 1 in the top left if released, pair 2 in the middle and pair 3 on the right. 3. Made the first two rows of objects on the range re-spawn after 1 minute of being killed. Any problems let me know. Enjoy Friar.
  4. You could try either Advance and Secure or Finish Dynamic. Both are joint ops (planes and tanks with objectives to achieve). With A&S ai units are added if human player numbers are low. Neither have icons but on the A&S you do get a map icon. For a navigation challenge try the Finish Dynamic. I have not flown on either but have "tanked" on both (in more ways than one!) We do not tend to fly as a group on public servers (not the UK guys anyway, can not speak for the colonies) as it would mean mixing with the "hoi-polloi"...
  5. Its only the P38 campaign that starts at 21:00 UK time. All our other nights tend to get going an hour earlier
  6. My idea (if I can work it all out) would be to give the sky jocks a bit of a dogfight to clear the skies first, whilst the tanks are on their way. The tanks then engage the enemy, when they meet some well dug in targets they call in air support.
  7. Advice please... What sort of Axis planes should the Typhon (and Tempest for those that do not have BON yet) be coming up against please? The scenario would be Germans defending a key town so are not sparing any resources to defend it? Also fighter cover, P51's? as well? Your advice would be appreciated. Cheers Friar
  8. Generally 19:30 UK time for dogfight map, fly what you want, do what you want until about 20:30 then we go to co-ops. These tend to last about 20-30mins each but dead is dead, you have to wait for the next one to start, however we have been known (on many occasions) to do a re-start if someone messes up on take off. Edit: you are not expected to be on TeamSpeak by 19:30, join when you can / want to.
  9. Salute, With the introduction of the Typhon I was wondering if there would be any interest in us running a special event on a non P38 Sunday that involved tanks and planes (DDZ v AI) I am thinking something on the Rhineland map (whilst we wait for Normandy) where by Shermans are advancing but come up against a stronghold, and have to call in some air strikes? I could throw in some air to air for the fighter jocks to clear the skies first, some ground units for the Shermans to attack on route? What do we think? Any embellishments to the idea welcome.
  10. Sorry Mick, had a look and nothing suitable I am afraid. Southern Kuban is closest with rows of trees but no narrow lanes. We will have to wait. Who knows perhaps Normandy will be released on June 6th?
  11. Doh! Sorry, did not read this thread correctly. This is a bit like the story of how the Noon day gun in Edinburgh always gets the correct time. A tourist was interested to find out so asked at the gunnery station. One of the troop told him that he could see a clock makers in one of the streets below and used his time. Whilst wondering about the city he came across said clock makers and asked him how he knows his clock out side the shop was right, he was told by the owner that he sets it by the noon day gun.
  12. Just found this over on the IL2 forums in a similar thread of someone looking for a manual... http://akvictoria.by/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/P-38-Lightning.pdf
  13. @DD_Fenrir is the sort of guy that if you show him a picture of 9 rivets on a Spitfire he will tell you not only the mark but which day of the week it was made, which factory and if it was Gladys or Doris that was putting them in. He is our guru...
  14. @Painless have you ever been cited in a divorce case before?
  15. Sorry for my non-attendance. I was just not feeling up to it. Nothing to do with second jab, that was fine (had it on Sunday morning), may have been too much sun, may be down to generally feeling a bit apathetic about stuff and life at the moment.
  16. I will be taking a break from mission building for a while so we will be running generated missions or stuff downloaded eg Advance and Secure missions for a few weeks. I am still thinking about the next series however. I am looking at the North Africa mod but that is still in beta and do not want to go with it until it can be completely trusted. So that brings me back to when I want to start mission building again, what sort of series would you like to have? Any thoughts or ideas welcome. Does not have to be historical, could be a made up scenario.
  17. Ok So I will put my offer of attending my place for a get together on hold for now. Lets see what pans out
  18. Will it be a push for you to make it P&P? - it would be a shame for you two to miss this one.
  19. Salute Just to give you a heads up and to give you plenty of time to explain to your partner why you need to be on the Computer Saturday evening. We will be running the final phase of the "Battle of The Bulge" series this Saturday, 29th May. It will be a two scenario affair. The first is we must stop Bastogne being re-supplied and reinforced, and the second, the final push to try and make it into the town and take the Allied HQ, located in the central church. Start time will be 20:30 UK time Would be great to have everyone there and perhaps a few more Multi-crews? Cheers Friar.
  20. Was the carrier called Tom as well?
  21. 281 Dear Pilots! Behold the mighty Typhoon Mk.Ib in action! Coming soon to Battle of Normandy! It is now in Beta and is scheduled for release in June. It's another beauty by our talented team. This beast is armed with 4 x 20 mm Hispano cannons and can carry multiple rockets like the RP-3 in HE and AP flavors or a pair of 250 lb. or 500 lb. bombs. The cockpit is another tubular framework popular with British designers of the period. It just looks angry with those rockets slung under the wings! The Typhoon Mk.Ib helped pave the way for the Allied invasion of Normandy and soldiered on throughout the war pounding German ground units at every opportunity. We will feature no less than 21 Typhoon squadrons in our Normandy career with 4 of them flyable initially. Jason has created another special poster. This time inspired by the beautiful emblems of Typhoon equipped squadrons. These emblems were created by our artwork partner (and newly minted rocket engine engineer) Isaac "SolidKreate" Chavira. Full Size Poster HERE. We hope you enjoy these screenshots. They were a blast to make. Also in the works for Normandy is the solid nose Junkers Ju 88 C-6 which will make for an interesting maritime patrol and ground attack aircraft. Is it as effective and versatile as the American A-20B has proven to be? We shall find out! And finally, we have built a big 380 mm gun that was known as the Todt Battery. In BON it will try, and in real life it really did try to pound the Allied invasion forces into oblivion. During the real invasion it stayed operational until late September 1944 when it was finally captured by Canadian troops. Check out this short video as we test its animations. In other important news - next week, we plan to make an announcement about some additional content we plan to add to the Great Battles series, we hope you will be happy. Stay tuned! See you in the sky and on the battlefield! The Sturmovik Team
