We LOST on points but over the 6 sessions it is a tiny margin really. Less than 20 points per round. -
Battle of Arras Campaign - Final Mission Report

I am just clearing up a small discrepancy with Deacon but it looks like over the 6 sessions we were down by about 90 points so overall I think we can claim an overwhelming victory. -
Salute, Well, what a night. A great turnout, so a big thank you to everyone that made the effort to attend and/or made changes to their schedule or call in favors with their partners to take part. It was much appreciated and I hope you all found it worth the effort! My objective for the final mission was to take Cambrai. I knew we were going to have issues with the bridges to get into the town and was hoping for a good turnout of pilots to give us a chance. Well you chaps certainly played your part in making it possible for us (well me, actually) to get over the bridge once it had repaired, Wingflyer was with me but they took it out again before he could cross. I don't think they knew I had made it and so was able to take the flag in Cambrai unopposed. That was the launch pad for us then to start rolling up their other towns. The tankers then played their part fighting and winning key engagements to both enable the advance and protecting the ground we had made. In the air above our pilots were certainly keeping the enemy on their toes scoring multiple victories. By the end of the evening we had not only taken Cambrai but also Iwuy, Noyelles and Esnes. If the campaign was to go on we were well on the way to rolling into the home HQ's. We ended up with 22 of the available 33 locations. I can not single anyone out last night for praise as everyone played their part, in the tanks, Mossie, Sid, Crash, Wingflyer, FT, Zukker and Ben, in the air, Fenrir, Beagle, Painless, Blubear, Delta7 (ably assisted by Soapy flying his first mission with the Dogz as a rear gunner), Funflack and Perfesser. I hope everyone that played in every mission or was just able to take part in the odd one found this concept of having the planes and tanks work together and pitting our skills against another squad (a task which I think we rose to admirably) challenging and exciting in equal measures, I know I certainly had a few "squeaky bum" moments! Mission building wise, I have learned a lot from this campaign, design features I will look to take on to other campaigns and improve. "North Africa" (using Off_Winters Kuban mod) is well on the way and I will be releasing a map for testing soon. Again, I thank all of you that took part and for making the many, many hours I have put into it all worth while.

Battle For Arras Campaign - Next Event Date

FINAL ROUND FOR THIS CAMPAIGN - DATE Sunday 9th October Does that work for you? -
Salute, Another grinder of a mission with the bridges again causing us problems, however the valiant efforts of both air and ground units, working together enabled us to again achieve our objective for this session. We are now knocking on the door of a major regional capital of Cambrai. Although we are behind on points, we hold the moral ground of gaining the most ground in the campaign so far and have pushed deep into Allied held territory with not a single town once held by us being lost to enemy action. Great work from everyone who took part FT, Crash, Ben, Mosquito, Sid, Funflack, Fenrir, Beagle, Perfesser and Delta. The next session will be the last one for Arras Campaign. It would be really "The Dogz Bollockz" (English slang for something of that has or presents outstanding attributes and the best in class) if we could put out a really good show with pilots to assist the hard working Fenrir and his regular air crews plus to present a strong showing on the ground. Come on lads - tell the partner you are going to busy for the next one (date will be announced soon) and book out a couple of hours to show those 352nd dudes what the DangerDogz can do!

Not just yet. I am going to add some bits to it, like skins. That way we can be sure we are all using the same version. I am going to set a dropbox account and upload it when I am ready. I will be putting up the un modded map soon for people to test. It will look like normal Kuban but the missions will still be the same. If you want to have a read up on it this is the mod I will be using https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/66068-kuban-autumn-nth-africa-desert-beta-upload-updated-version-to-7-11-06-2022/ I have removed the trees option. Which is why I want to make a file available so that I know what people are downloading and enabling. Friar

Hello Guys, I have been working on the North Africa Campaign and would like to present my scenario to see what you think of it as a working idea. Picture 1 - This shows the overall map and probable starting positions. Pictures 2 and 3 give a bit more detail. My idea for the Campaign is that Allied forces must reach the port town of Gabes, located on the South coast. The axis forces must stop this advance and push the Allies back over the sea. I have two ideas on how to start the campaign. 1. The Allies have landed at either the north or the south landing point (if this scenario was to be used I am favoring the South landing site as it should provide contact / engagement quicker.) 2. The Allies have the option of staging a landing raid at either the north or the south (the location would be unknown to the Axis forces, although I would produce an "Alarm - enemy sited..." message). The landing spawn will only get enabled if a percentage of the landing craft arrive at the coast, lets say 50% for now. The landing craft would start out from the target approximately the same amount of time as it will take the Axis aircraft to reach the area once notified. All towns once captured will trigger a supply convoy. Airfields on the main land can be captured by enemy ground units. I have not worked on aircraft attacking and disabling yet. I have also not added the bridges yet. What do you think of the scenario(s)?

Hi @BluBear from Jabo Unfortunately, I will have to fight my way down to Cambridge through the rush hour traffic (I won't be able to leave before 5) so I may have to go direct to the curry house but that won't be a problem - Whoever's making that reservation, could we make it 7:30 - 8 rather than any earlier please?

Thanks for the like @wingflyr but you did not vote whilst you were here! It would help me to decide what to do next if people let me know what they would like. I know you guys are so nice you are probably all saying "we do not care what you do next Friar, you are such a skilled and cleaver mission builder we all are the wings above your wind we will still play it" but it would be nice to know.

Salute Gentlemen, With probably a couple more sessions to go in the current "Battle For Arras" campaign against the 352nd I need to start thinking about what we do after. I hope like me you have enjoyed the challenges the campaign has presented and I would like to do something similar again. We did discuss just running the same event but changing sides, would you like to do that? I have been looking at a very good looking mod that re-textures the Kuban map to be North Africa. It changes all the town names to proper North African ones. It provides desert skins to vehicles and planes as well. Would we like to have a go at a scenario on that (to take part you MUST have downloaded the texture mod. Its quite large but can be applied and removed via JSGME).? This map gives the opportunity to fly from proper airfields and would offer up a plane set of Spitfires, Hurricanes, P40's, A20's against 110's, 109's, Ju88a's and Stukas. On the ground Sherman (perhaps the Churchill if it comes out in time or a Kv-1 "hack"?) v Panzer III and IV. The ground is flat and open so would provide new challenges for attacking and capturing towns. I am thinking of building in AI artillery and ground units to support both forces. The scenario would be Allied forces trying to push the North Africa Corp back from captured ground. If this was to be the popular option I could start building it now so it could be ready to go as soon as we finish in Arras. Normandy is getting close and from the sound of it, just starting to poke its nose over the horizon. The map would provide an opportunity to build a break out scenario following D-Day (might be difficult to do an actual D-Day scenario, will have to wait for the map and what objects are available).

Should we make the Saturday show a Dogs uniform event - will have been a while since the old shirts have been worn in force? We might get recognised as we mill about the airfield? Looking forward to this now. Should we book a table at the Curry House? @BluBear aka Facilities Facilitator?

I have now made you a full member of "The DangerDogz". (You have joined but may never leave, somewhere in our small print is something about your first born but we can discuss that later.) You should also now see some extra threads appear in the forum, stuff we like to keep to ourselves. Welcome to the pound I hope to speak to you soon. Are you joining for GBS or DCS? If Fenrir is going to give you lessons you can not learn from any better in the Spit. If you are here for GBS have you looked at Tank Crew as well? We are also running a campaign against another squad on Sunday evenings starting from about 8:30 if you would like to join. You can fly or tank (or both if you want). The next round is on the 25th September so time to get you up to speed if you are interested. Salute and Welcome again.
