    RIAT 2023

I have never been there before so we will have to arrange where we are going to meet up and at what time etc..

    RIAT 2023

I have just booked for the Saturday. I am staying with my better half in a studio flat in Stow-on-the-wold from Thursday and are making a mini break out of it, taking in a farm attraction on the Friday, the show Saturday and travelling home Sunday.
  3. Hey Ma..look at me! ...and all in one piece !!! Also "Is my room ready yet" and "Are you sure ATC said to leave it here?" I think the penny might finally dropped with landing control.
  4. There was discussion again last night about what I see icon wise. I grabbed a screen shot during the valley run to show what I am seeing. Is this right?
  5. erm....a follow up post by someone... For those who have watched the video, and did not notice it because they don't yet have the required experience in DCS Lua scripting (i.e.: they are exactly the people who would try this): the code the Chat Bot (it's chat bot, not a coding bot, so what it produces is supposed to be small talk) doesn't work and contains multiple errors because the code is copied nilly willy from different sources using different frameworks. If you know how to code for DCS, it's obvious. If you don't, the answer seems as convincing as the (exceedingly nice! ) bit about the Ju-88 being a prime 4 engine bomber. Chat bots are 'yes' bots, and their answers are accordingly airheaded. The narrator of this video appears to have a lamentably low-skill understanding of DCS scripting and ChatGPT: he can't spot obvious mistakes, and asking the AI (the 'yes'-bot) if it understands you isn't proof of the AI's reflective ability - it's not reflective at all - it's a test of the bot's ability to say yes. It does not understand what you want. It understands that it has to grab code pieces that have 'DCS', 'Lua' and 'mission' as tags, and string them together in a manner similar to other code pieces; that's just like telling an art bot to draw an image in the style of Picasso. Worst, the video suggests that the code would work, but never tests the code that the bot creates. Let's be generous and say that the narrator overlooked producing this part, perhaps because he ran out of time, and not because it would have severely diminished the video's attractiveness. So both generated scripts contain bad, obvious errors, for what essentially are indeed trivial things. Of course, @Hog_driver knows this, and I believe "I dunno, judge yourself" was exceedingly tongue-in-cheek. The problem here, to me, it that the latter part goes over the head for those to whom it may be relevant. Apologies if I'm (again) elaborating the obvious.
  6. 14th is Mothers Day in US I have been informed - so how about 21st
  7. Sunday 14th May - new start date? if you CAN NOT make this date please let me know.
  8. read this thread through - solution seems to be right at the end https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/38653-friend-cant-connect-to-my-server/
  9. This is what I have, although not hosted from my own machine for quite a while
  10. Think so, I will check my BT router a bit later and check. Thinking of coming to the dark side Crash and hosting some missions ?
  11. Sorry guys looks like this event start is going to be delayed. I asked deacon if they are still good for Sunday but he replied that because they have not had mission files for testing (I have been distracted by DCS and learning to fly the Gazelle helicopter, sorry) they would be unprepared to start on Sunday. I will try and re-focus on the campaign and get some test mission files over to them. As soon as we can re-arrange I will obviously let you guys know. Friar
  12. I found this on YouTube the other day as I am currently into the Gazelle. It was interesting that in one of the episodes a trainee pilot is removed from the course for exactly the same issue I am having, not being able to get the Helicopter down on the ground over that last 20-50 feet. There are 6 episodes I think.
  13. With the learning curve ever steeper on the Gazelle 'copter - I found this today -
  14. Here is the link to the English labels mod for the Gazelle https://forum.dcs.world/topic/141210-dcs-sa342-gazelle-complete-english-cockpit-mod/
  15. We will be staying away from the airfield and more in the Cotswolds so hopefully not too bad.
  16. Salute I have asked the wife if she fancies coming to RIAT, she of course suggested making a long weekend of it. Anyone else fancy going and meeting up? https://www.airtattoo.com/ Playing DCS has got me in a mood to see some of the jets in real life and up close.
  17. Wow crash. that is really good. could i have a copy of the picture file please? perhaps via pm?
  18. Hi Thor The 352nd will be Axis again for this campaign. Do you have the email for Deacon? if not I will PM you. Friar
  19. Subject to no major bugs being found in my mission files, Deacon from the 352nd has suggested 23rd April as a possible start date for the campaign. Please post here if you CAN NOT make this date I would expect the timings to be the same as the previous campaigns 21:00 UK time for 2 hours. On Teamspeak by 20:30 for briefing. UPDATED NEW PROPOSED START DATE: SUNDAY 21st MAY (14th is Mothers day in US)
  20. Apologies for my gruff demeanour last night chaps, I was getting very frustrated. I had given myself a scenario. I had been tasked with hitting a building that was an insurgent training HQ. (I picked a random large building out of the way of SAM sites on our server.) I had made a note of the co-ordinates and new that I could create a steer point for the laser guided bombs, however when ever I tried to plug the details in, my data was not being accepted. Checking YouTube this morning I found the below video which shows the DED not looking what I was getting when I pressed button 4 on the pad? On my screen the steer point stayed in the top right hand corner ? I was attempting this after the INS alignment had finished and I was still on the ground. I will have another go later today.
  21. Hi dave i have found that you do not need to use the logitech profile. with my x56 loaded i click in "clear" so no profile is in place. I can show you how to map all 3 modes to buttons within dcs if you like. (you add a modifier) make sure you are in the correct column eg throttle or stick me and kev are on line now (friday 9:50pm) if you wanted to jump on TS
