DCS Mission Builder Assistance Please - How to put multiple planes on a carrier
Friar replied to Friar's topic in DCS Series
@APHill - Thanks AP - I will take a look. -
Pictures or it never happened.....
-
I have now updated the first post with the latest spreadsheet of who has what.
-
I have added the following planes (based on what jets get flown on a Thursday UK session), have I missed anything? I have added slots for cold start and hot start for each plane F14, F15, F16, F18, A10 II, AV8, Mirage 2000, Mirage F1, Viggen, Bronco, A4-E, Apache, Huey, Gazelle
-
great work FT I am currently building a map. Then I will do Normandy so all the WWII stuff (and I16) can get a look in
-
i will update the list - enjoy!
-
I have downloaded a template which has lots of targets / defenses already populated (link here: - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3325667/ ) I have started using Al Dhafra Air Force Base as Dogzford - good / right choice?
-
Salute I am going to start work on building a home base for the Persian Gulf map. Where do peeps think DCS Dogzford should be placed?
-
see first post

@delta7 - I would wait for a bit if I were you - depends if you are looking to play off line or not. I think the Normandy map will be one of the maps in rotation as it seems to be popular, would it not be better to spend you money on that as it does cover a large part of England as well as the channel?
-
Done mine the other day after you told me off for not having it....
-
@BluBear, I know @PapaBear does not visit the forum very often, which maps does he have please?
-
How about we get an idea of who has which map so that we could perhaps look at doing a rotation on a Thursday evening? As the sale is currently on might be a chance for us to get "synergy"* *a mutually advantageous conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (such as resources or efforts)
-
How about picking up Persian Gulf map? Its $24.99 - It has been out a while and most of us have it. If we knew that it could be the lowest common denominator perhaps we could build a new set of missions for Thursday nights.? I will start a poll now I think to capture which maps people have. Perhaps we could do a rotation of missions to mix it up a bit. Gulf, Normandy, Caucasus etc? I would be happy to put the ground work in in building the maps if the likes of Fenrir or Fruitbat could "finesse" them?
-
I know it all depends on what day / time we run this but if you would like to take part can I have some indication of what you would like to fly. I know some people are a given i.e. Fenrir F14, myself Apache but what would others like? It will help me to see if I need to add some more targets suitable for the attacking plane. I will then build up a list of who is what and could then perhaps also organise some command structure?

Salute, I am pleased to present my first scenario based DCS mission "Downed Pilot". I have tried to incorporate planes for all roles (Really sorry FT but I could not find anything for the I-16 can we tempt you into something else? happy to adjust the mission for you). All we need to do is to find a night to host it on? Suggestions welcome. Thanks to DD_Fenrir for assistance with some of the techie bits. I hope the scenario works, but as it is my first go at this sort of thing I am sure you will forgive me if it does not quite go as I think it will....... The full mission briefing is shown below; PILOT DOWN Last night whilst returning from a mission, Captain Bruce Williams (call sign "Brewster") was shot down but ejected safely. His data shows that his plane crashed North East of Pokyesh (Grid Ref GH1141). Captain Williams also activated his personal tracker which shows he headed South East during the night covering approximatley 12km. His track is availble on the mission map. His last reported position was at 04:00 this morning just North East of Achigvara (Grid Ref GH12). No further track has been recorded so we can only assume that as light started to break he has gone to ground in this area. We will therefore focus our seach in this location. A search zone has been marked on the mission map. The Captain is one of our most senior and experienced pilots and know he will deploy SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape) training. He will fire 2 ORANGE flairs when he has visual contact with the search teams and also set off an ORANGE smoke canister. The recovery helicopters should land close to this position. Capt Williams may also place some sort of ground marker to assist with the pick-up point. Look out for anything unusual in the area. Once you have landed, Captain Williams will break cover and come out to the LZ. He must be recovered at all costs. The enemy are active in this zone both in the air and on the ground and will be out to stop his return. Good luck Gentlemen. High Command and Captain Williams are counting on you to pull this off. TASK ASSIGNMENTS ============ F14's from CVN-75 "Harry S Truman" and will provide air intercept protection. F16's from Senaki-Kolkhi will be tasked with air intercept and ground attack to remove the threat from the ground to air defence systems. OV-10 "Bronco" to provide close air support to the recovery team and tasked with surpressing enemy ground search teams. F5-E "Tiger" is tasked with hitting local area HQ's and assisting with attacking ground targets. AH-64D "Apache" will escort the Huey recovery team and offer additional protection. UH-1H "Huey" will be the main recovery team that lands and picks-up Captain Williams. Salute Following the recent Teamspeak update that came out, some Dangerdogz have been having issues with binding hotkeys directly to their HOTAS. Deacon at 352nd and some of his guys have been having the same issue. He has kindly provided a roll back to the previous version. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xbylq3igy5nuqzd/TeamSpeak3-Client-win32-3.5.3.exe?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/fto434kp4itdwwx/TeamSpeak3-Client-win64-3.5.3.exe?dl=0

I found this video today. Could be used for example on the F16 for the "Valley Run" loadout with just a couple of missiles on the wing.

If you can help, please review the below from the chat bar.... I have pasted the chat (excluding a couple of links to videos) The story so far....... xTbonex: Well, ive not been able to fix my IL2 issue, Ive tried all kinds of configurations, I suspect the VR tether cable may be damaged, although odd that its just IL2 with the issues. seeing as a new tehert is about £130, (yep, for a cable) thats me out... cant justify paying that for a cable. xTbonex: only other thing I can think it might be is an issue with the GPU drivers. but not sure how to revert back to the older ones. Friar: @Tbone - do you get the same low rates when using the flat screen? Friar: anything on the forums - if a gpu driver has screwed stuff a lot of people will be moaning xTbonex: im just having a look with VR not active. xTbonex: no its just the VR by the look of it, im getting 80-90fps on the monitor with no VR plugged in, I will try and rol back the GPU drivers, come to think of it there was an Nvidia update a few days ago that I installed., but I will have to do that later as I have to work today. xTbonex: when I boot up in VR, the loading screen stutters a lot and im getting artifacts all over th screen around the edges of the black box that comes up with IL2 logo in it, the VR just doesnt pan smoothy at all, its definitely the display thats causing the lag. the PC isnt breaking a sweat at all. xTbonex: ive also tried reseating the cable into the headset but thats not fixed it either, gave it another test with the driver roolback also and its still a problem. xTbonex: it does appear to be the headset I have to say, I ran it for 15 mins earlier on screen, and was getting a staggering 235fps. if the green digits were accurate, and that was maxed out settings xTbonex: its not a hardware issue, as I have an i9 129000, and an RTX 2080 with 32Gb DDR5 Beagle: I finally resolved my VR issues by re flashing my headset to an earlier firmware version. All good now. xTbonex: I may try re-installing the Oculus app a bit later. but im running out of ideas atm. at the very least im going to have another tweak of the settings in it Beagle: Tbone try working your way through this guy’s recommendations in your set up. I found his guides for IL2 and DCS setting up in VR to be very helpful. It’s worth a shot if you find yourself running around in circles with the VR stuff. Beagle: Oops sorry. Forgot to add the link. https://www.gamersbynight.com/il2-vr-settings-optimization/ xTbonex: I think I have fixed it, I wiped every trace of IL2 off my system and did a clean re-install, it must have been something in the settings or mods folder screwing things up. I manually deleted everything this time and started over xTbonex: had to remap everything, but thats fine, at least its working and im back up to 80-90 fps. xTbonex: that was frustrating. and sorry for the whingefest chaps. its only taken 3 days to locate and fix the issue. just glad it wasnt the VR set that had the issue. hard to believe one or 2 corrupt files could create so much havoc xTbonex: on 2nd thoughts maybe not, but... I thinnk its the icons mod messing it up, i installed it and its playing up again xTbonex: it wasnt that, I have no idea what it is, it worked for a while, I tried a restart and the problem re-occured, im going to try one more clean install of Oculus and IL2 after that Im done I think xTbonex: I ran a diag on Steam VR yesterday, and I can literally see the frame rates tanking on boot up, they never recover or go above 30FPS after that, something is clearly hapening on boot up. I tried to get open composite working but the game wont load, I used to use that on my old rig to bypass Steam VR Friar: Do you have any other games? are they the same? xTbonex: No its just IL2 thats playing up, everything else is fine. which is very frustrating I have to say xTbonex: teh weird thing is I didnt actually change any settings, it just decided the other day to not play along
