I have just upgraded from windows XP to windows 7, last night, and so far so good , here are some articles I thought helped http://www.winsupersite.com/article/windows-7/clean-install-windows-7-with-upgrade-media http://computershopper.com/software/howto/windows-7/how-to-dual-boot-windows-7-and-windows-xp I used the upgrade software, which is cheaper and it activated no problem hope they help ps Thanks to Rog as well for his advice -
Controls List Needed
delta7 replied to MadTrooper's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Blitz and Desert Wings: Tobruk
In il2 CoD not all actions are assigned and some default are different from Il2 46 so I had to make up the spreadsheet, in order to use the same profile on my X-45; which I am used to. The spreadsheet is pretty basic as I still cant play the game so gave up on it, I have windows 7 now and I am awaiting a new drive to put it on , costing me a fuggin fortune . -
Controls List Needed
delta7 replied to MadTrooper's topic in IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Blitz and Desert Wings: Tobruk
I have an excell spreadsheet made up if that is any good to you - it is not a complete list as there are dozens of controls for magnetoes ets but covers the main user inputs. Being a spreadsheet you can easily add to it I copied over my il2user profile and then listed all the BOB keys then maped them together so that they match - I have my own set of custom controls but most are default so you should be able to adapt the spreadsheet for your own Posted here http://dangerdogz.com/forums/files/file/497-il2-cliffs-of-dover-to-il2-46keymap/ -

I have just orderd windows 7 and paln to dual boot so will send you a pm with some questions mate S -
The guys have summed it up well. This had great potential but is not a finished product. Its like someone had a project to do a great graphics simulation of the 1940s and then tried to tack a game onto it and it does not work. The whole thing is bug ridden. Do not buy it in the current state and save yourself money and frustration. I have only once before given up trying to get my PC and a game to run ( Arma2) and I even got that to run after a year of patches and tweaks . I can see a lot of similarities here, potentially a great simulation by a small developer with great community support but it will take time to get it in an acceptable state.

While I agree that XP is old , it is still used by a lot of gamers and folk who like to run lean systems. Vista had a very bad rep when it came out so many chose not to run it. Windows 7 seems to be good but there is no direct upgrade from XP so it would be a clean install , then reinstall all my software, all for one game. I cant afford to throw any more money at this , I might get windows7 and a new hard drive at christmas and go a dual boot if they sort it out by then but I really dont know what they have been doing for 6 years so I arnt very hopeful about this. I am sorry for rants but I think Im computer savvy and have spent a lot of time trying to work out the structure of this damned thing and seeing what others have tried and it just sucks that it has been put out in this state when a lot of folk have waited for it and supported it by buying it. I had suspicions about the state of it , no press release, no store release, no review copies etc. If Id spent 6 years developing the next best thing I would have wanted to shout it from the rooftops, but was prepared to give it a chance. My advice to all here is dont buy it. Wait and see and hope that they act on the feedback and get it sorted. Cold Gambler is right , if they think the freedback is bad just now just wait until the USA release, they are going to get crucified and a lot of folk are going to want their money back. -

new card is asus-engtx460-top which replaced a innio3d 8800GT. The 8800 ran the game fine graphically but very low frame rates. Should have been a straight replacement with drivers but I have tried 3 different drivers, cleaning out the old ones each time, with no joy I have tried the beta patch as well and this did not help I have submitted a report to Nvidia DXDIAG Time of this report: 4/8/2011, 17:12:11 Machine name: Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.080814-1233) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: System manufacturer System Model: System Product Name BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 3326MB RAM Page File: 922MB used, 4286MB available Windows Dir: F:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found. From 1c forums 1. Optimization of homes is almost ready, it is necessary to test for another day or two to make sure that it does not add unexpected glitches. Houses have become so fast that the flight with full houses are now just a couple fps slower than the performance without homes. 2. Optimization of the forest goes a little slower, but still looks optimistic. We'll add new setting “Variety” for woods, which roughly speaking allows you to place fir trees instead of various shrubs and trees that would raise productivity. Otherwise, the forest will be the faster due to some deterioration in the overall impression – far away trees will appear more slowly. 3. Optimization of the shadows - a separate problem from the houses (in test number 1 was measured without shadows). As it turned out, the problem is not in the code, but in the models, particularly in some cabins. We use very precise alpha on small details and this causes very big slowdowns. We must check all models, to identify all such places and to correct them; as a result we will have very strong growth of FPS everywhere, due to small loss in beauty. 4. Support for SLI - do, as soon as the number 1 and number 3. As I have already written somewhere, it can be very rapid fix but also may require serious consultation with the manufacturers of the cards that will take much longer. I can not yet say for sure. 5. Microfrizes over the landscape caused 99% by the trees. Working on number 3 will solve this. Instant uploads will still remain in the game, as it is impossible to keep all the giant map in the memory all the time. It is necessary to dynamically load the required landscaping. This happens, in my opinion, once every 12 kilometers, and is smooth and size, so it will be very little noticeable. 6. MP windows are almost ready, we need a day or two for tests. 7. Overall graphics optimization - selection of rendering into a single thread - a dramatic increase of FPS (roughly doubled). This work will take at least a month. Thus, the plan is simple - to release next week small patches, which will include a number 1, 2, 6, and possibly number 3. Then, in the circumstances - is likely to support SLI will release along with the number 7 sometime before the end of April - early May. __________________

got it running last night : with single plane around 40fps over the sea ;20 fps over country - over london single figures or stuuuttteeeerrrss res 1280*800 epilepsy off details medium but Forest off Buildings Low grass off set up joystick axis and Ill use the time until my new toys arrive to set up my controls They definatly need to optimise this thing. Buildings and forest are what are killing it. im spending more time on the 1c technical forums than flying the thing -

Ok found this http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=19777 with tips for xp and following the tips on page 2 I can now get it to fly over blue water. Settings are custom - mostly medium with forest off no grass or shadows or road 1280*1024 I will do some more testing tonight. -

Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 2046MB RAM Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT windows XP Hi I am interested in how this works out as its a similar system to mine. I was going to rebuild this summer but I will be spending some money on replacing the suspension on the car, and wifey wont be too impressed if I go and spend loads on computer stuff as well I could buy a graphics card though and if it gives a half decent frame-rate that would do until later in the year. Crash It s unplayable with this , I tried the free flight in a single spit over the sea and it does not render the sea until you are just above it - when high up it looks like a load of green tiles. this is even at low settings. I tried a flight over london and it wwwaaasss aaaaa ssssllllliiiiidddddeeee sssshhhhoooowwwww with constant pop up of buildings. Ill try to get a screen shot to let you see what I mean -
