Hi Gents, if we cannot get the campaign running then going up as a squadron on a MP server might be worth a go? We could still mission brief and keep tally of scores, but would need to discuss on how we could make it work. Main thing I have found with DDs is its about having some fun flying together, with the campaigns being as serious as we get. Have had a look at some of the servers an in most cases there can be a really tough environment, but the one below looks like it might be worth a go? It has Icons, technical tips and minimaps so would be very simliar to our current coop? https://clashofeagles.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/opmaak-maps-all-fields-v8-13july2021.pdf
Clash of Eagles (Relaxed Main) is a lot of fun with 4+ in a squad coordinating attacks and capturing bases, run by some really great guys.. Even 2 guys flying together carefully can do a lot of damage...

Take a look at Hell Let Loose....

@Icer Thanks for stopping by the Dogz and posting.
My pleasure, in case you didn't pick up on it I was originally GPatricks here, ended up in the Loose Deuces with my old Aces High nick as the DD squad nights timing just didn't align with my open times... but I would love to fly\tank with you guys if possible. Total newbie to TC, trying it out on the Finnish Server for now but fly on the WB and WoL servers mostly.

Likely no one needs this but as I couldn't seem to find an up-to-date one I put this together from a couple sources. Figured I would share here if its ok. Also have one for Combined Arms in DCS if anyone is interested.. It's in Excel format so easily edited\changed\modified as needed.

@Gpatricks No that is not me, I didn't get a PC until 1998 and my first flight sim was Janes WW2 Fighters and Microsoft Combat Simulator 1 at the same time.
I was a bunch of different Toad's toad465, 82nd-Toad, MAD-Toad, 131st-Toad, BP-Toad, V228PT-Toad, DD-Toad, Nearly always T_O_A_D, or T_0_A_D on Forums even outside of gaming stuff.
Yeah, seen a lot of Toads over the years, he was an airline pilot and also owned (IIRC) a T-34 trainer..

Just a follow up for anyone thinking of upgrading, the 3090 is an absolute beast. Doing the Hell Hawks P-47 campaign I was getting ~40FPS with some settings turned down (or off) during normal missions with the 2080. I turned EVERYTHING in graphics settings to max and had the most intensive furball (30+ planes) in the beautiful clouds and the lowest I saw was 66 FPS with 100+ most everywhere else.. I have no money for food for the next 6 months but we have to have priorities...
Quick unrelated question for anyone with both the standard IL2 standard install and a Steam Install. I did the whole P38 Lightning Campaign under my IL2 install, is there any way to copy\transfer the campaign settings to the Steam install so it shows as completed so I can run a couple of my favorite missions again, or do I need to run through the whole campaign again (which is not really a big hardship .).. ?

I've been on the Nvidia wagon for many years but did use an AMD GPU many years back without issues. As the world has gone insane and you can't buy a 3090 for under €2500 i'm leaning toward a 6900 XT Extreme (self-contained water cooling) for about €800 less and available. Are there any reasons NOT to move to an AMD GPU? All test I have seen show it within 10% of the 3090 and much faster than my current 2080.. Thank you for any input!
EDIT: I think Alexa was listening again, as soon as I wrote this I got a one day 25% off flyer for a Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity OC 24GB GDDR6X and pulled the trigger immediately. Couple hundred € more than the 6900 XT but I can live with that... be here in 2 days.

It's them text lines to the right, the ones that inform you of the control positions (whenever you change them) and damages, and whenever you run the engines in combat mode, or emergency mode, ie. the ones that are timer-bound. Too high for too long -> Engine kaput.
Ahh, I don't really use them so no loss....

No techno chat in that server though... If you think you put the gear down you better know where the indicator is for that airplane or it might go badly.
What is "techno chat", are you referring to SRS Radio\TS3?

Was able to hop on the "WB-Clash of Eagles" Main arena server for a bit yesterday, like the idea of a rolling plane set, "dot" icons, capturable bases and functioning (destroyable) radar installations. It's actually very much like Warbirds\Aces High in those ways.. kind of wish DCS (on the SoW Server) and IL2 had the same flight models (prefer IL2's actually), I can't just hop into a DCS plane and fly without some practice, even with auto-start cheat but I like the SoW server also..

Just wondering where you guys fly when not DangerDogging it here? I have plenty of time during the day and early evenings normally, enjoy the Scripted Campaigns but would like it better if other humans were involved. Looking into this place, hopefully it won't become like Aces High Air-Quake.. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/72487-calling-open-beta-testers-wb-clash-of-eagles-servers/. Any others (In EU or UK) popular that you can just hop on and fly a mission or two?
I should add that for DCS WWII I have found the Storm of War server and it ticks all the boxes but it adds another layer of frustration getting some of those planes off the ground with heavy ordnance.. yes, I suck and fully admit it.

Hey Patrick,
The start time is based on a variety of factors; on a normal co-op evening people turn up and drop out for the night/evening/afternoon generally at their leisure. Even if you joined a bit later than the majority, generally you would only have to wait 5-15 minutes till the next coop mission started, there being somtimes3-5 run in the course of the session.
However, with a single 1-1.5 hour coop it vastly complicates attendance: everyone who wants in has to be there prior to my generating the mission (I can't generate slots for every possible attendee and just leave the AI to fly those who don't show, in case the AI does something dumb and kills off your persona!) so we had to set a cut-off time to have everyone who wants to fly be there...
We have American continent guys joining in their afternoon, with Brits just after supper time and the Euro guys worrying about needing to hit the sack before the mission ends. Ultimately we tested out a few times and eventually it settled on 2100 as a good compromise for everyone.
Everyone is generally landed by by 2230/2300 BST, and some duck out early if necessary (without penalty) so there is that option for you.
Thx for the clear explanation Fenrir, I was spooked by the calendar and will give it a go next time. The AI are not all that bright, I had my wingman, 10 miles from base after a mission, pancake down on top of me in level flight in formation. I just happened to look up and saw him coming down like an out of gas UFO..

Thx Painless - Let's see next gathering, 21:00 is fine. Hanging around until 23:00, not so much..
Any consolation, I was just trying the P47D on the DCS Storm of War server and couldn't get a heavy plane (600# under max. weight) off the ground!

It's to give the N Americans a chance to fly
Whatever works, just doesn't work for me.. my tough luck. Funny, I looked for a UK group because all the North Americans were 6 hours behind me here!

Love to join in but i'm being realistic, by 10:00 i'm ready to wrap it up if not already wound up by flying already on weeknights.. Before Covid I had dinner at 10:00, this last year has ruined me..

21:00 is the start time so if you're BST +1 then that would be 22:00 for you?
Sorry, just saw this. Yes, 21:00 BST is 22:00 for me. I was going by the calendar, which is below.. with my notes added. Maybe i'll try DCS as those times are at least within the realm of possibility for me. Is there any reason (i'm sure there is) you start so late on a weeknight?
-
Somehow i've got the times crossed up, I thought you started the dogfight at 7:30 and the campaign at 9:00. I'm +1 so starting the mission at 11:00PM my time just isn't gonna work for me. I'll be asleep 1/2 way to the target... Maybe i'll pop in during dogfight time but i'm really not into that, sorry.

OK, got the WarBrd base installed, set the VID/PID and name to equal what was in place for the "Joystick - HOTAS Warthog" and calibrated it, all went without a hitch and TARGET (and Win10) sees it correctly! I've printed out the DD SOP (re-formatted to my way of thinking) and at this juncture have a couple questions as I did not see the info elsewhere.
TS3 - I have that set up, connected to the DD server, and it seems to work fine (is there a reason the IL2 SRS isn't used?)
Skins - I now have 3218 4k skins. I assume the correct skin to use will be announced when flight assignments are made?
What do the "Codes" mean in the SOP for each squadron? I.E. for 401st its 9D.
Having not flown ILS MP since about 2000, I assume I need a Server IP to connect to.. or is there a separate process (or is this given out the night of the mission on TS3)?

I assume all those skins are already part of the 3218 DD 4k skins I have using the ChkSkins app? If not i'll DL and adjust...

As directed i'm putting my pilot's name here (Gary Patricks) and hope to be able to join you guys tomorrow night. New Virpil jstick base arriving sometime tomorrow so fingers crossed the setup goes well (using my Warthog stick on a WarBrd base)..
