  1. I'm out due to real life, and other interests that pull me away seasonally, but the biggest reason is I'm just not satisfied with the Sims, with my current GPU, and I can't convince myself it's worth the expense considering my lack of free time to loaf off on the PC. That being said, I miss the crap out of you guys!!!

  3. Dear Friends, This year we have already released two previously announced Collector Planes. Today we would like to share plans for the future aircraft. In addition to the already released Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XIVe Bubbletop and Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 A/S, the plan for this year includes: 1. Li-2 - Soviet military transport aircraft. Unlike the original C-47 (Li-2 was based on it under license), it was also used as a bomber and had an optional turret and even forward firing weaponry. The planned release date is Summer 2023. 2. American towable glider (!) WACO CG-4A, which has been widely used during the Normandy landings. The planned release date is Fall 2023. 3. Soviet fighter La-5 series 38 with a teardrop-shaped canopy. Its lighter design had a positive effect on the characteristics of the aircraft compared to earlier models. The planned release date is Fall 2023. 4. Romanian fighter IAR-80/81 in two basic variants («long» and «short»). Both variants and 7 modifications of the aircraft are described in detail in DD #334. The planned release date is the end of 2023. Please note: since this Collector Plane will be effectively two significantly different aircraft (different fuselages, different flight characteristics, different paint scheme kits, there are differences in their cockpits as well) in one package, its pre-order price will increase on May 17th to the level of larger Collector Planes like C-47. Of course, the pre-orders placed before this date won’t be affected by this change, so if you’re interested in getting these aircraft eventually, please consider doing so before May 17th. 5. The development of three new fighters scheduled for 2024 has begun: German interceptor Focke-Wulf Ta 152 Soviet legendary biplane Polikarpov I-153 «Chaika» British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc armed with 7.69 mm machine guns and a different tail. 6. By the end of 2023, it is planned to complete the development of the Flying Circus Vol.III which will include eight aircraft: F.E.2b R.E.8 Hanriot HD.1 Nieuport 11.C1 Nieuport 17.C1 Nieuport 17.C1 GBR Albatros D.II Halberstadt D.II It is also planned to complete the Western Front 1918 map and populate the entire front line with objects. This updated version of the map will be available in different seasons. 7. The story of Flying Circus continues: plans for 2024 include additional improvements to the map and the development of seven new collectible aircraft: Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter B Sopwith Pup Airco DH.2 Albatros D.III Roland C.IIa Fokker E.III 8. We’re also helping a team of enthusiasts who are working on a new map of one of the theaters of operations on the Eastern Front. A significant progress has been made - we hope that the map will become part of the Great Battles game world soon. The details about the map and the development team will be revealed later. Since the Battle of Normandy release, 9 World War II aircraft, 15 World War I aircraft and two maps have already been produced or are in development. And that's not all! Your support motivates us to improve and extend the Great Battles series. A new historical campaign is in the final stage of development - it is dedicated to the operation of Yak-7 fighter armed units. This year we plan to release another campaign and there are ideas for creating three new campaigns already. In addition, this year we’re updating a number of previously created campaigns to integrate new technologies and content developed recently (you can see the Tank Crew campaigns being updated in the screenshots below). The 1C Game Studios team wishes you good luck and aerial victories in the virtual sky! Congratulations on the upcoming Victory Day! Discuss on forum

  4. UPDATE 29TH FEBRUARY 2024 V2.9 The initial enemy aircraft spawn-in is now controlled by options in the comms menu (F10 - Other). We can now choose when to initiate the first AI spawn in and also from which direction, EAST ZONE or WEST ZONE. Once the first spawn-in has taken place, as each flight is killed (hopefully) another random selection will be generated automatically. We do not have to keep using the Comms option. I have added a random delay of between 5 and 8 minutes for this second and subsequent action to take place. The initial spawn-in is immediate. The map is divided into two zones with planes coming in from the EAST (flying right to left) side of the map (wide range of types) and the WEST side ( flying left to right, older jets e.g. Mig 15, Mig 19, Mig 21 only). Added a group of small fast moving attack boats going after a stricken tanker. Added a new helicopter FARP down near the south coast with Apache and Huey Added a two ship convoy made up of a tanker and a supply ship (if you fancy trying to land on a moving deck) that will pass close to the new southern FARP travelling north to south. INTELLIGENCE UPDATE - Enemy forces have been monitored moving 2 medium/long range mobile un-guided rocket launchers in a direction that could potentially place them within range of our airfield....

  6. UPDATE 06/11/2023 Version 1-1 On a recent flying night @wingflyr asked where there any convoys to attack. I directed him to the single one I had on the map, well, now I give you... "Hell's Highway" I have now added logic to generate, at random, 1 of 3 possible convoy configurations. The selected convoy will head west from the next big village along from the "hostage location village", which is a fair way along the road. If it reaches its destination (a small village next door to the "hostage location village") it will be deleted and another generation cycle will take place and a convoy will be selected at random to make the same journey. If the convoy is completely destroyed on route another generation cycle will take place and one of the 3 possible convoy configurations will be generated again and set off on the same route. There is no limit to the number of generation cycles. There will only ever be one of these convoys in motion at any time. There is still my original convoy which starts its journey closer to the destination an ends up in the hostage village and remains on the map. At the moment it is not possible to remove burning wrecks from the map, so it could get messy along this highway. If it gets too much I will review the process. Enjoy.

  7. UPDATE 30/10/2023 Bug Fixes No more gymnastic ground crew Changes @Sid - Mirage now French so variety of other skins available. @DD_Fenrir - Recovery Air-to-Air tanker added over carrier. F14's available at main airfield. Additions AWACS added Recovery Air-to-Air Recovery tanker added over carrier. Other ground scenes added in addition to F16 being repaired. Random choice at mission start of F16, Reaper drone, B17, F-117 (eye candy but has taught me about using random key generator and using templates for later use with SAM sites).

  9. Salute, I am pleased to present my first scenario based DCS mission "Downed Pilot". I have tried to incorporate planes for all roles (Really sorry FT but I could not find anything for the I-16 can we tempt you into something else? happy to adjust the mission for you). All we need to do is to find a night to host it on? Suggestions welcome. Thanks to DD_Fenrir for assistance with some of the techie bits. I hope the scenario works, but as it is my first go at this sort of thing I am sure you will forgive me if it does not quite go as I think it will....... The full mission briefing is shown below; PILOT DOWN Last night whilst returning from a mission, Captain Bruce Williams (call sign "Brewster") was shot down but ejected safely. His data shows that his plane crashed North East of Pokyesh (Grid Ref GH1141). Captain Williams also activated his personal tracker which shows he headed South East during the night covering approximatley 12km. His track is availble on the mission map. His last reported position was at 04:00 this morning just North East of Achigvara (Grid Ref GH12). No further track has been recorded so we can only assume that as light started to break he has gone to ground in this area. We will therefore focus our seach in this location. A search zone has been marked on the mission map. The Captain is one of our most senior and experienced pilots and know he will deploy SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape) training. He will fire 2 ORANGE flairs when he has visual contact with the search teams and also set off an ORANGE smoke canister. The recovery helicopters should land close to this position. Capt Williams may also place some sort of ground marker to assist with the pick-up point. Look out for anything unusual in the area. Once you have landed, Captain Williams will break cover and come out to the LZ. He must be recovered at all costs. The enemy are active in this zone both in the air and on the ground and will be out to stop his return. Good luck Gentlemen. High Command and Captain Williams are counting on you to pull this off. TASK ASSIGNMENTS ============ F14's from CVN-75 "Harry S Truman" and will provide air intercept protection. F16's from Senaki-Kolkhi will be tasked with air intercept and ground attack to remove the threat from the ground to air defence systems. OV-10 "Bronco" to provide close air support to the recovery team and tasked with surpressing enemy ground search teams. F5-E "Tiger" is tasked with hitting local area HQ's and assisting with attacking ground targets. AH-64D "Apache" will escort the Huey recovery team and offer additional protection. UH-1H "Huey" will be the main recovery team that lands and picks-up Captain Williams. 11. Wow chaps, what a busy evening!!! I stuck with the M2000 and had a ball Just a couple of screenies from this evening and one from an earlier date screaming low over the desert outside of Dubai. I love the reflectivity of the skins....I know it's a retro 60s but it is a classic Mirage so has to be worn....the weapons are the Matra rockets and the Belouga cluster bomb system. The 3rd pic is the effect of the BAP 100 runway cratering bombs, don't ya just love a nice set of baps 18 rocket propelled bombs that bury themselves into the concrete before exploding....could have spread them a bit more to get a longer line. Great fun, thanks for your company. Your giggle had me going aswell Mel....was it something I said??

  12. Salute I have been looking at a mission building assistance utility called "DML". Using this utility (it is NOT a mod or anything extra people will have to download / install), I now have access to lot of exciting mission elements, more information once I get to grip with it a bit more, but for example we could have the status of mission being saved and re-opened opening up the option of a rolling campaign, it gives the option for helicopter anti-submarine warfare, it can enable zone capture etc it uses random flags in an easier way so the mission will have the potential to be almost different every time it is run. What I have achieved over the last 3 or 4 days is, and am excited to announce, is the following; 1. I have been able to add populated airfields with I hopefully believe, little or no overhead (so hopefully no (extra) stuttering on load in for people) 2. Each player spawning in gets their own bit of eye candy with localized ground crew with different groups so not are all the same for every player, which are deleted from view once the player starts their taxi out (thus keeping the server load down) 3. Under the Communications menu and F10 option "Other" it is now possible for a player to re-start the mission / server. So if you join the server on your own and would like to re-set the mission (to witness the glorious sun-rise - the mission now starts at 06:05 and in September, scattered clouds at 12,000 feet rather than clear skies mid day in June) or go back to attacking a town someone else who has been on earlier has flattened), you can now do so by calling up the Communication menu and selecting the option. OBVIOUSLY, please do not try "What Does This Do?" when there are lots of other players on the server, it is only good manors to use it by agreement. Once the option is selected, the mission WILL re-start. Other changes Using the Data-Link feature that was introduced in 2.9 I have added all the F16's into what I think is the correct shared comms table. I have also done the same for Apache. Needs testing. I have moved the Carrier further up the coast and added closer targets. I have added additional Air to Air tankers. If you use the server when I am not around, please let me know what you think and if you got any performance issues with the populated airfields. Regards Friar

  13. If you are curious about DCS you can come and play for free and get an excellent experience of what is on offer. Download the DCS World to get the Caucuses and Marianas maps for free. With this you get the P51 trainer for free. Download the excellent A4-E "Scooter" mod which will give you a multi-role carrier capable jet. This mod has been described as being as good as a paid for module. Link To Latest Version Here : https://heclak.github.io/community-a4e-c/ Download the also free mod (you do need to "buy" it but you can pay $0.00) excellent OV-10A "Bronco" twin prop muti-role ground attack plane. Link To Latest Version Here: https://splitair.gumroad.com/l/fwzxn And if you want to have a go at helicopters, you can download the also excellent UH-60L mod "Blackhawk". (Dont worry about the start-up process being complicated, on most of my missions I do hot starts, the engines are already running, failing that there is an Assist to do it for you, like in most of the DCS planes) Latest Version Download Here: https://github.com/Kinkkujuustovoileipa/uh-60l/releases

  15. I think that people are just bored a bit with Box , As a squad we have been flying the SIM for over 20 years together and box does not have as many planes or theatres as the old il2 so lacks a bit of variety, the only good turnouts are for special events now DCS is the new shiny toy and interesting as it throws up new challenges but unless we get start having coop type missions then I can't see it being a long term solution. There is already a disparity on who has a particular plane and map so some communality will need to be agreed and I'm not sure some folk will want the expense of that just to keep flying. Having said that I will still attend both SIM nights as much as possible

  16. UPDATE 04/11/2023 Easy Comms now correctly configured so contact for AWACS and TANKERS should be easier when using the communication menu. Clouds changed to Scattered 3 High. Cloud base is now at 17,000ft Extra Vipers added. There are now 7 available. All planes have radios pre-programmed to the channels shown below should we want to use the new DCS comms or SRS. (see below) All F16 and F18 have full network configuration for data sharing plus donars (see below) Hostage bus will now spawn in at one of 4 random locations within the town. There are now consequences if the bus is destroyed by a player. You have been warned.

  18. Now that I am able to generate missions and host I am planning to run a campaign loosely based on fenrers s P-38 campaign and based on Geoffrey Wellums career. With numbers currently low , we would all fly RAF, however if I can drum up enough support and others express an interest then both sides will be flyable. So will start with Battle of France, Battle of Britain, Reach out to France, Malta, and then fictionally the Desert Air Force. I would like to know if there is any interest in this from outside, Crash, Professor, Mosquito and Petrol ,who I have discussed this with on comms, so I can estimate numbers for missions. I also intend to promote this on the main BoX forums to try to get others interested in flying with us. This is in the very early stages so any suggestions or advise will be gratefully accepted.

  22. I believe that the core of the group is in coops and that to attract new members and keep them interested then we should get back to these. Under Colin s guidance I am learning how to generate missions and use the server so we should get things moving soon. There is no use of me doing this if it isn't what others want so I wouldn't appreciate some input. Do you want coops? What type of missions do you like? What planesets? Long or short missions ? Would you prefer random or themed nights ? Any ideas appreciated. We seem to get more people interested in special events so my ultimate aim is to run something similar to fenrers p-38 campaign but I will need to get used to things first Hopefully this will get some interest back in box

  23. UPDATE 10TH FEBRUARY 2024 V2.7 Changed F16 planes to facilitate "Link16" capability. There are now 2 groups of 4 aircraft "Viper-1" and "Viper-2". This means that the "Link16" can now be used to lock your wing-man or flight lead and be able to track them in the helmet / HUD also to see which targets they are locking etc. Thanks to @fruitbat for technical support and for assistance in testing. Link system also now configured correctly for land based F18's to share information. F18's can also donate to F16's and vice versa. Added notification for when AI planes are starting to be generated on the Western and Eastern zones. Hidden Attack Town reinforcements so that they can not be attacked until the correct time. Hidden Attack Town Leader so that the escaping vehicle can not be attacked until the correct time. Added 4 x Mosquito, 4 x Spitfire, 3 x P51, 3 x P47 to the airfield for sight-seeing and photo opportunities with the modern fighters. You can of course go ground-target hunting but will be up against modern defenses. And also....1 x I16 at the airfield for FT

  24. UPDATE 5TH FEBRUARY 2024 V2.4 New feature of being able to pick-up the troops once they have completed town assault and search to bring them home. Added "Search in Zone then attack" options against AI to try and keep them from straying over in to areas we do not want them (untested at the moment).

  25. I voted to move DCS to Tuesday anyway. I'm also of the belief that people who are actually flying, their vote should have more importance than those who aren't, as it doesn't affect them one way or the other.

  26. I view it as my hobby. If I played golf there would be club membership fees, the latest in golf stick design, jumpers, shoes etc. DCS gives me many, many hours of fun and I do circle round the VR options as I would REALLY like to see what it looks like, but I am not spending any more money....

  28. S! to you all. Bemmo, who I fly with on occasions, highly recommended you guys. I fly Il-2 and often in the Bf 109, Ju 88 and P-51 and also Flying Circus with the Se5A among others. I am simply exploring my options as I am with an RAF squadron but am unsure if I am a good fit and vice versa. Prior to that, I cut my teeth with the fab Casual Pilots Squadron (I miss those guys) and then briefly joined, and regretted, The Tangmere Pilots and ACG. In essence, I take it seriously but also want to have fun and be part of a happy and functional family. Or perhaps disfunctional. Out of interest, what times and days do you fly? Is it casual or more rigid in structure. Happy either way. I am based in London, UK. About Bulldog: My first sim (or sorts) was B-17 Bomber on the Intellivision (1980 or so), and then sims on the Amiga and the Pentium DX 2 66. I think I have been flying Il-2 since 2001 or 2002 and have been in squads or solo ever since. Also, I am a book publisher with aviation as a main core of interest. I also commissioned Air Combt Manoeuvres: The Technique and History of Air Fighting for Flight Simulation (2008), which some of you may have (I supplied the chapter on flight sim equipment as I was the reviewer for Combat Aircraft magazine). Think that is about it. Did try VR with the G2 Reverb and Pico 4 but it was not for me and fly with Track IR for now. Keeping a very eagle eye on VR development, however. With very best wishes, Bulldog
