  1. Hi guys, I'm attempting to get my old man into IL2 ( unfortunately due to his cancer he has lost his PPL) he’s not exactly computer literate so I’m SLOWLY introducing him to IL2, we purchased a set up for him for Xmas this year. I was wondering what the rules would be if I was allowed to jump on the dogfight server sometime with him? He can barely put a headset on to be honest so I’d be on with him over discord. I have tried to start a normal co op server and there’s so many AI aircraft etc around he’s not going to last long… if he doesn’t end up ground looping for half an hour 😂 Im stalking basic stuff to start with, taking off, landings then we can wonder off as he gets the hang. I know it means plugging in the password for him hence why I thought I would ask, but I really wouldn’t mind doing some flying with him. I’m not sure if I can be on discord and teamspeak if I can I’m quite happy to be on both if someone was to jump on but we would normally just stick to it when nobody is on. I suppose if he really got into it I could set the rest up. anyways no pressure either way but thought I’d ask 😊 rather than go ahead.

  2. thanks FT, you will be pleased to know we had a blast! and the old man even took out a searchlight.... although we need to work on the landing... 2021_12_29__20_0_49.bmp

  3. Well, the flight stick was made difficult by the tutorial video. In hindsight should have watched at least 3 times, made notes of all the changes that came up in the update text windows, watched 3 more times and then followed the video! Shame about the missing connector, flaps will have to wait. As they are primarily associated with landing, not really required. don’t think I can bring myself to plug them in, shorted wired crossed connections, where the alcohol.

  4. Go ahead me thinks. We do want closed servers, but no problem if you have him join our server and train on it... that's all fine! (And thanks for asking first ...)

  5. Perfect FT if I connect all the wires together, does that mean they will become autonomous? Making my spitfire be the ultimate AI machine, vanquishing all that cross her sights? Or will I still as bad at landing as I have always been?

  6. Me thinks you can easily solve that by connecting the blue to the yellow, so they will become one entity, and that will stop any confusion. Come to think of it, that way you can connect all wires to each other, and that way you will end up having only one wire! That means there's no more relevance to what color the wire is! It's so simple!

  7. Well, I've given it some more thought, and to avoid all wiring problems, I'd advise you to go wireless... (To get the ultimate AI machine: I can switch on the option to have 'Autopilot' available on our servers?)
