  1. The Saved Games folder is recommended by ED for Third Party Skins as it keeps the core game folder structure and the files within, sterile. Should you need ever to run a repair on your DCS install, it will flag ANY third party skin content as potentially worthy of removal and if you were careless or inattentive you could potentialy lose all of your downloaded skins. However, the issue with the Saved Games Folder is that it is natively on the C:/ or operating system drive and if, like me, that is rapidly reaching capacity, having a lot of skins in the Saved Games area will bloat it considerably.

  2. As of last weekend, our GBS Server is running two different 'missions' 24/7. One rotating the set of 4 DF a/c oriented missions (90min rotation), the other running the 'Tankcrew Summer' mission, created/tuned by dd_Friar, with options to battle in open field and in towns, or to practice at a gun range. It will restart itself after 3 hours of running. Yeah, bad luck if/when you kill all possible targets on the map in the first half hour - you better go fly for two and a half hours. Note: Some targets will quickly re-spawn after being killed - you cannot run out now! Note: The TankCrew mission will not be running whilst we are doing the regular Sunday/Tuesday Coops, the PWCG campaign, and any other special/custom stuff being created and hosted in between - like on a Saturtankday ... well, no problem, you won't miss that Tankcrew mission, as you are joining the event, for sure! Have Fun! Edit by Friar - The first couple of rows of targets now re-spawn so you will not be able to kill EVERYTHING!

  3. For some reason the saved games location doesn't work for some planes, notably the f 14 springs to mind. It should, but, hey DCS.... I've taken to putting all my skins in the path FT linked, as that always works!

  4. There's a path in SavedGames/Liveries that also works. The module folders need to be named in an exact way that DCS recognizes. Probably not an issue as you already get the folder in the skin .rar file, but I for example had an issue with the Mi-8 because the folder was named Mi-8MTV, whereas DCS only recognizes Mi-8mt for some reason.

  5. You should see the scratch built bridges that FT has made. Also the large RC aircraft the likes of Papabear have built. They are seriously talented fellows. Quite a few of the chaps have put together some bloody nice models, have a browse on the forum Reg.

  6. Look at that - 2 brilliantly built models. I am looking forward to comparing notes moving forward - nice to be part of a group with some gifted modelers @Painless - the Ju88 is great, personally, I think it is sacrilege you haven't built anything for 8 years, wasted talent.......

  7. Corporal Snafu and Technical Sergeant Fubar seem to have tamed the Gremlins in 'Maybe, Baby?!' as the aircraft performed flawlessly. White Flight formed high astern of Red flight enroute to target, but slowly overtook. Crossing the line, bandits were spotted swinging into our rear section and Red flight engaged. White continued on to target. I followed Capt. Cloister on his run on target. White 2 had a go and then I was cleared for a bomb strike myself, destroying the remaining locomotive. We searched the town for more targets, but finding none, before heading off to hunt targets of opportunity. Catching up with Red flight we found more targets near the front line and managed to destroy some Howitzers and AA. Unfortunately we lost White 2 in the process. With ordinance depleted, White flight followed Red flight and headed for home. The 402nd arrived over the airfield at the same time as the 485 and the pattern was pleasantly full of returning lightnings.

  10. Footage of at least 2 stupid mistakes strung together to result in the end of a pilot. Overconfidence and target fixation. This is also the first time I had experienced the new blackout model and didn't learn from the first one. Then I insisted on staying behind the bad guy and shooting when I knew I was pushing too hard. New recruit Karl Spartan reporting. https://youtu.be/2Stq6kb3qOI
